The Motherhood of God: Antidote to Trauma

Meditation and/or Worship,

In today’s world, there is a profound need for a gospel imbued with a Motherly Spirit—a vision that heals the deep psychological wounds of trauma. By fostering equity, social cohesion, and inclusion, this vision nurtures the human spirit, helping us heal what divides us and empowering us to envision unity and strive toward transformational change as children of a loving Father. This gospel is none other than the new revelation, The Urantia Book.

The Motherhood of God embodies nurturing, healing, and transformative aspects of divine love. Its focus on the maternal qualities of God—unconditional love, infinite compassion, and tender care—offers a remedy for the wounds of the human soul. Trauma, whether personal or collective, often isolates and fragments individuals, leaving them yearning for connection and restoration. The maternal embrace of God provides a divine antidote, restoring wholeness and fostering spiritual growth.

Central to this healing is the indwelling presence of the Thought Adjuster, described as a fragment of the Universal Father, which intimately ministers to the human soul, guiding us toward renewal and spiritual alignment. As the teachings affirm, “Every mortal who is consciously or unconsciously following the leading of his indwelling Adjuster is living in accordance with the will of God.” This presence is a mark of divinity within each of us, and through it, we experience the transformative power of divine love (Paper 107, Section 0, Paragraph 4). It serves as a constant reminder of our divine heritage and the unconditional care of a loving Parent.

The maternal qualities of God are further reflected in the portrayal of the Eternal Son as the “Universal Mother,” emphasizing the relational and nurturing aspects of the divine family. This balance between the paternal and maternal dimensions of God highlights the completeness of divine love, which seeks to uplift and unify all creation. As the teachings remind us, “...love is the dominant characteristic of all God’s personal dealings with His creature” (Paper 2, Section 5, Paragraph 12). God’s love is not only a guiding force but also a healing balm that restores the soul and fosters unity within the human family.

Healing through the Motherhood of God is not a passive process; it is an active engagement with divine realities. The teachings emphasize that spiritual growth and healing are mutually stimulated by relationships and shared experiences. “The kingdom of heaven is within you,” the teachings declare, reminding us that the divine presence is always accessible, offering hope, peace, and renewal. By opening ourselves to this maternal love, we align with the higher purposes of divine will, allowing for profound and holistic restoration.

The Motherhood of God also calls us to embody these divine qualities in daily life. By nurturing others with compassion, patience, and forgiveness, we become instruments of healing in our relationships and communities. This maternal spirit fosters social cohesion, equity, and inclusion, countering the fragmentation caused by trauma. As the teachings affirm, “The Gods are my caretakers; I shall not stray,” and “Your spirit shall minister to me, and your glorious angel will comfort me,” signifying the safety and renewal found in the divine embrace (Paper 48, Section 6, Paragraph 8).

In conclusion, The Motherhood of God: An Antidote to Trauma is an invitation to recognize and experience the transformative power of divine love. It calls us to heal our wounds, embrace our shared humanity, and strive toward unity and spiritual growth under the nurturing care of a loving and compassionate God. This vision of divine motherhood offers not only personal healing but also a pathway to collective transformation, uniting all as cherished members of the family of God.
